Resolutions: A Mood Board

This year will be no more in a few days, and once again I’m looking inward and forward. No matter how crazy the final weeks of the year get, it’s vital to make sense of everything, to make lists in your head or on paper. To visualize, to plan, and to hope. Always to hope.

These are twelve big resolutions that I think might be meaningful whatever those hopes are. I’ve chosen a photo (11 great ones from the web and one of mine. Photo above by Florian Klauer) for each resolution, coupled with some wise words from people you might know. Are you ready?

#1 Be Curious.
“I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” – Albert Einstein

#2 Stop being afraid.
“Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is freedom.” – Marilyn Ferguson

#3 Prioritize your health.

“The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years.” – Deepak Chopra

#4 Value rest.
“A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book.” – Irish Proverb

#5 Travel well.

“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” – T.S. Eliot

#6 Relax.
“Together with a culture of work, there must be a culture of leisure as gratification. To put it another way; people who work must take the time to relax, to be with their families, to enjoy themselves, read, listen to music, play a sport.” – Pope Francis

#7 Forgive.
“You can’t forgive without loving. And I don’t mean sentimentality. I don’t mean mush. I mean having enough courage to stand up and say, ‘I forgive. I’m finished with it.’” – Maya Angelou

#8 Own your style.
“Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.” – Oscar de la Renta

#9 Embrace your flaws.
“Relish everything that’s inside of you, the imperfections, the darkness, the richness and light and everything. And that makes for a full life.” – Anthony Hopkins

#10 Get organized.
“Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life.” – Immanuel Kant

#11 Seek simplicity.
“We have lost contact with reality, the simplicity of life.” – Paulo Coelho

#12 Love more.
“For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.” – Carl Sagan

I wish you meaningful, peaceful, healthy, happy and exciting days ahead.
